Red Carpet Black Dress

Red Carpet Black Dress

A black dress is a foundation for your individual style. It’s your very own blank canvas, where YOU become the masterpiece. Dressing for any occasion - evening, brunching with the girls or casual family gathering, a black dress has you covered, with the right styling and accessories, of course! We've seen a lot of glamour looks lately, with all the red carpet events, we we’ve taken a look back at some of these looks and pulled together our favourites.

Kelly Osbourne rocked this black lace gown at the Oscars. In true Kelly style, she let her accessories do the talking with a rainbow clutch, pastel purple hair and simple, strappy heels. The lace neckline draws your immediate attention but the soft accents give this look an edgy, modern vibe.  (pic via Heart radio)

Julianne Moore (2016) went for a simple and glamorous look with this beaded accent neckline and statement earrings she’s showing off by casually sweeping her hair behind her ears. When wearing an embellished neckline, there is no need to add a necklace although there is no rule against it, if you want extra kapow! (pic J Kravitz)

Kristen Stewart makes this black ensemble her own by stacking some mismatched necklaces and arm candy. Note the ‘kapow’ in her Louboutin’s and that peep of tulle in the back of the skirt! Her “I woke up like this” hairstyle and her signature makeup balance each other to create this effortless-chic look. (pic rssing com)

Angelina Jolie’s chandelier earrings are all she needs to make a statement in this off the shoulder, velvet dress. Along with the fierce face of course! Velvet is a flattering fabric for gowns as the deep colour of the material smooths out the body and gives a glorious silhouette.  (pic telegraph uk)

Ashley Graham lets her body do the talking in this stunning, figure hugging, mermaid dress. The asymmetrical neckline adds some interest to the plain black dress while her sleek hairstyle and simple accessories add a touch of glamour without taking attention away from her gorgeous smile. Zazie Beetz (The Joker) was sewn into her Thom Browne look for the Academy Awards where she was a presenter. Not officially a dress (it’s a corset, a bodice and a skirt), but we had to add it because the styling was perfect, with this Bulgari statement necklace, rings and earrings (120 carats of diamonds in total swoooon)! The nail tips worked perfectly and we’re LOVING her hair too! (pic rcfa / getty)

At this year’s Oscars, Margot Robbie wore this vintage Chanel gown (1994) with detached sleeves. She accessorised the top of the bodice with a Chanel Fine Jewelery statement brooch and slipped on a matching ring. Top it off with a perfect red lip and she’s red carpet ready! (pic rcfa)

Look close up to see Saoirse Ronan’s delightful bug clip in her hair, to match those magnificent chandelier earrings. With that gorgeous makeup including the winged eyeliner.. super cute! (pic getty)

How will you create your next masterpiece - styling your blank canvas - your favourite black dress?
